Me and Sturdy Ground

Meet Louisa Clapper, Registered Provisional Psychologist

For over two decades, I have dedicated my career to the human services field, walking alongside individuals, families, and caregivers navigating complex life transitions and neurodevelopmental journeys. As a Registered Provisional Psychologist in Medicine Hat, Alberta, my practice—Sturdy Ground Consulting and Counselling—was born out of both professional dedication and deeply personal caregiving experience. I understand first hand the invisible threads of caregiver stress, profound loneliness, and emotional exhaustion that come with holding everything together for the people you love.

My practice focuses on supporting adults, families, and caregivers managing ADHD, ASD, FASD, disabilities, anxiety, and burnout, supported by a CanREACH pediatric mental health mini-fellowship and ALERT® self-regulation training. Utilizing a collaborative, trauma- and disability-informed framework, I integrate modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, somatic approaches, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, offering both in-person sessions in Medicine Hat and virtual care across Alberta.
